Our Leadership Team

Major General John N Nwaoga (rtd)
Chairman

Major General John Nwaoga mni is a retired Nigerian Army officer who served as General Officer Commanding 3 Division, Commander Armoured Corps, and Director of Policy before his retirement after 30 years of service.

General Nwaoga is a distinguished infantry commander who as GOC 3 Division earned the Chief of Army Staff Commendation Award in 2013 for his performance in counter terrorism.

As a former Director, Research and Development, Doctrine Command, General Nwaoga has an encyclopedic understanding of Nigerian Army doctrine and he remains actively in touch with our frontline troops in order to keep abreast of the current state of battle in the various theatres. This places him in a unique position to understand where and how the changes he observes in modern warfare are applicable to Nigeria’s unique circumstances and terrain.

One of General Nwaoga strengths is that he seamlessly transitions between the worlds of strategy and tactics. As a senior officer, he gained considerable experience advising the highest levels of military and political leadership. Yet as a graduate of Education from the Nigerian Defence Academy he retains a passion for communicating and discussing tactics with the less the senior ranks.

General Nwaoga graduated from the prestigious Nigerian Defence Academy with a Certificate of Education and went on to obtain an Advanced Diploma in Law, Security and Conflict Resolution. He holds a Master Of Science Degree in Disaster Management from Bournemouth University, United Kingdom. And he is also a graduate of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPPS), Kuru.

Since retirement, Major General Nwaoga has also engaged in a range business activities including farming, tourism and real estate management. He is happily married and blessed with children.

Before starting Perimeter Defendr, General Nwaoga continued to support the Nigerian Army, in an unpaid private capacity, by working towards the resolution of certain sensitive security challenges facing the country, despite great personal risk. His new role as chairman of Perimeter Defendr now allows him to contribute even more.

Mr. Timi Agama
MD/CEO

Mr. Agama is an experienced defence industry operator. He entered the industry as the founding MD/CEO of Kovidal, a Nigerian defence supplier which enjoyed the privilege of a strategic partnership with a UK defence contractor led by a highly decorated former commander of the British Special Forces (the SAS).

Mr. Agama also has considerable experience as a trusted, confidential advisor to the highest levels of government in Nigeria. He has advised on issues of government policy, ministerial appointments, political strategy, and effective communications.

Additionally, Mr. Agama has over 25 years of technology consulting experience in the UK and Nigeria.

In the UK, he consulted for some of the world’s most prestigious investment banks including Goldman Sachs, Deutche Bank and J. Henry Schroeders, and delivered complex software solutions for blue chip British companies like Sky, American Express, Sony Ericsson, T-Mobile and Sainsbury’s.

Early in his career, Mr. Agama was responsible for implementing the first ever banking software system for what has become the mighty GTBank today.

One of Mr. Agama's strengths is that he is an out-of-the-box problem solver who constantly re-thinks established problems in diverse industries. To take just one example, he created a method that enables completely illiterate people use a mobile app – a world first.

Mr. Yemi Oluwadare
Head, Business Development

Mr. Yemi Oluwadare FIMC, CBDA is 10-year veteran of the defence industry who spent a large part of his career as a business development executive with Proforce, where he single-handedly initiated and closed $2.8m in sales of military hardware. At the time, this represented the highest sales ever recorded by a single employee of the company.

After leaving Proforce Mr. Oluwadare became the sole Nigerian representative of Ukraine’s premier drone manufacturer, UKR SPEC_Systems LLC, and he continued to work closely with the Nigerian armed forces.

One of Mr. Oluwadare’s strengths is his ability to solve customer problems by creatively thinking beyond the boundaries of existing industry practices and client mind sets. For example, early in his business development career, he re-thought the problem of hand-washing large commercial buses that was consuming a whole hour and crippling the operations of the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA). He solved this problem by proposing an automated car wash which helped LAMATA reduce cleaning times by 78% (to just 10min per bus). This unlocked the operational bottleneck and led to increased revenues (buses on the road longer), reductions in manpower, and an end to customer complaints about filthy buses.

In his role as Perimeter Defendr's Head of Business Development he continuously strives to use this creative approach to help the Nigerian armed forces source the most optimal solutions to their battlefield challenges.

Mr. Oluwadare holds a B. Sc. in Computer Science and Information Technology from Igbinedion University. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants Nigeria and a Certified Business Development Analyst of the Institute of Business Development Nigeria.
